Gourds are interesting because they come in so many colors, shapes and sizes. But many folks aren't sure what to do with them. Can I eat them? Not recommended. But they are wonderful additions to fall decorations and last a long time. Spray a little shellac on them and they will last even longer.
Decorate with gourds on a table or desk, outside with your pumpkin, or surrounded by flowers. Make a wreath that changes with the seasons and attach a few of the smaller egg-shaped gourds to it. Find an abandoned bird nest, place a few egg shaped gourds in it and place it in your landscape. Use your imagination with gourds!
And while you are decorating, try adding ornamental sorghum in place of, or in addition to, corn stalks. The flowing heads of different colors are unique and interesting.
