2013 Bag Garden Grant Application Available
Posted: January 21, 2013
This project is a quick and easy way for a school or youth facility to have a small garden with less expense and no building. If your youth organization is not sure whether they want to commit to gardening, this is a one growing season project that will help you decide if you would like to do something more permanent. Bags may be used for several seasons if cared for properly.
The Montgomery County Penn State Master Gardeners would like to encourage youth to grow Bag Gardens and there are five Bag Garden grants of $25 each to give to organizations working with youth. These funds will help you purchase potting medium and plants to grow in the bag.
The garden bag, a variety of annual seeds and some seedlings will also be provided. Adult educators from the winning organizations will also be trained in how to create and grow in a garden bag.
Funds for this grant are made possible by PSU Master Gardeners of Montgomery County and the Merrybrook Garden Club. All grant applications are due by February 20th, 2013.
