PA CleanWays of McKean County, an affiliate of Keep PA Beautiful, completed an illegal dump clean up on West Eldred Road in Eldred Township on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Eight volunteers removed abandoned trash, tires, and several white goods from the landscape. Eldred Township Supervisor, Tim Moyer, provided his time and a backhoe for the project. The Casella Landfill provided a roll off and the tipping fees for the project. Other organizations involved included the McKean County Conservation District and Adult Probation, and Penn State Extension.
Jim Clark, McKean County Penn State Extension Educator, stated, “These volunteers provide a valuable service to the community. People that illegally dump, especially near water sources, put us all at risk because there is no protection for the water. All garbage should be recycled or end up at a landfill.”
Penn State is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce.
