(bulleted item) Bucks, Community Gardens, an offer to consult (and advise) with any community interested in pursuing a community garden.  Note:  we will not be doing any of the leg work.  They must have the land, interest and management already in place. Cost: free.

(bulleted item) “Build a Strong Financial Foundation”- four workshops, 2 hours each that address Recordkeeping and Consumer Protection; Credit and Debt Management; Saving/Money Values and Goals; and Spending/Budgeting. 

This can be delivered as a basic family financial education series or as individual programs.  Material can be modified to meet the educational needs of low literacy audiences and youth/young adults.

Right on the Money: Talking Dollars and Sense with Parents and Kids. A four-session educational program that uses reading to introduce children to key financial concepts and provide parents with tools and information to both reinforce their own financial knowledge and help them positively influence their children’s future money management skills. This program requires a minimum of two adults to implement—one to facilitate the parents’ lessons and one to teach or lead the children’s lesson. You do not need to be a financial expert to offer this program in your community.

Don’t Be Scammed: How to Avoid Identity Theft. Identity theft puts an ugly face on your good name. A con artist who knows your Social Security number, bank account information or other personal details can temporarily become you in order to commit fraud. Fixing the damage could take years. Learn how to reduce your risk.

Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate? Everyone has personal belongings such as wedding photographs, a baseball glove or a yellow pie plate that contain meaning for them and for other family members. Planning to pass on such items can be challenging, and may lead to family conflict. This program examines some of the issues regarding the transfer of non-titled property.

Skills for Taking Control of Your Future. A two-day train-the-trainer workshop for agency personnel and volunteers who work with individuals, groups, and families with limited resources. Topics include financial management, family life, parenting skills, nutrition, tenant rights and responsibilities, assessing personal strengths, resume preparation, job interviewing skills, and finding work.

Offered annually in the Southeast Region (Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, and Schuylkill Counties) on a rotating basis. For information call 610-696-3500.
