From Seed to Plate: A Vegetable Gardening Class Presentation
Presented by Roger Swain
- Topic 1: The Whys & Wheres of Raising Vegetables: Does it really make sense to grow your own food? How will you explain what you are doing to “the neighbors”? If your own yard is shady, where do you go?
- Topic 2: What Shape Is Your Plot: The geometry of smart garden design. Why smaller is often better than bigger?
- Topic 3: Extending the Season: Temperate zone gardeners can always stretch the harvest, choosing cold tolerant plants and changing the climate for warmth-loving ones.
- Topic 4: Feeding, Weeding and Pest Control: Vegetable gardening is a partnership between plant and grower. Learn how to act responsibly in caring for and defending your crop.
- Topic 5: How to Pick, Store and Enjoy Your Harvest from A to Z: A photographic overview with detailed commentary finishes the day.
