EPA Allows Two Insecticides To Control Stink Bugs in Agricultural Settings

These insecticides should never be used to control stink bugs in homes or other buildings, and were approved only for the control of stink bugs on fruit trees outdoors. These chemicals are unsafe in indoor environments, pose a health risk to humans, and will not eliminate the stink bugs in homes.
Stink bugs accidently invade homes looking for shelter but they do not cause damage, reproduce, bite or transmit any diseases. Although stink bugs can become a nuisance for homeowners, pesticide applications in and around homes are not recommended because they have not been shown to be effective for prevention or control. The most effective strategies to control them include sealing entry points such as cracks and crevices around doors, windows, siding, and chimneys with silicone caulk, vacuuming, and using traps.
