Other Infectious Diseases
Many pests can transmit disease that they pick up as they travel trough their activities. Animals that forage in garbage (rats, mice, squirrels, pigeons, cats, dogs, raccoons, opossums, flies, cockroaches, etc.) will be exposed to foodborne diseases, including Salmonella, E. coli, Shigella, etc. Rats, flies and roaches all feed on feces (poop) and sewage. Rats alone can spread over 35 diseases.
