HEALTHY HOMES: MEETING CHALLENGES IN COMMUNITY HEALTH & OUTREACH
This initial session of this three-part panel series will highlight the outreach and educational opportunities that our Academically Based Community Service (ABCS) courses provide to our neighboring West Philadelphia community. During these academic courses, our students learn the significance of giving back to the community that they call home during their undergraduate years.
The purpose of the panel series is to review some of the focus areas that current ABCS courses explore. To aid the public in understanding the focus of our series, we have invited local and regional experts to share their knowledge and experiences on each of these topics. The initial lecture will focus on the “Healthy Home” and the potential health risks that often plague our community because of residential and environmental exposures. Each seminar will be facilitated by a member of the Earth & Environmental Science Department who has been teaching in the ABCS program.
