PA Farm Show Indiana County 4-H Livestock Results

Twelve Indiana County 4-H members exhibited 16 head of livestock at the 2017 PA Farm Show. Members showed market sheep, goats and swine, returning home with several high placings.

Sheep

  • In market sheep judging placings were Justin Alter, first, Hampshire

  • In Crossbred classes Amber Long, second; Ivy Long, third; Olivia Long, fifth; and Risecen McGinnis, fifth.
  • Risecen and Justin also won Master Showman awards.

Swine

  • In market swine competition, Allison Rhea placed first with her Spotted Swine, and Andrew Rhea placed first with his Other Purebred and both were both named Breed Champions.
  • In Duroc classes, other placings included Zach Edwards, sixth; Zach Edgell, seventh; Gage Ritchey, ninth; Montanna McCloskey, tenth, and Mariah Edgell, fourteenth. 
  • Risecen McGinnis was tenth in the Yorkshire class.
  • Risecen also won a Master Showman award.

Goats

  • Market goats were shown by Justin Alter, fourth; Risecen McGinnis, fourth, and Amber Long, ninth.
  • Justin and Risecen won Master Showman Awards.

Volunteers

Several 4-H volunteers from the county assisted with the junior swine show – David McCoy, Todd Fulton, Amanda Kanouff, and Amy Olson Lowmaster.
