Chocolate Apple Bars
Children will need help from an adult! Don't forget to drink water while you hike.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup + 1 Tbsp all- purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup margarine or butter
- 1 cup cinnamon-flavored applesauce
- 1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp golden raisins
- 3 ounces quick rolled oats
- 1 ounce semi-sweet
chocolate mini-morsels
Equipment:
- 9 x 13 baking pan, sprayed with cooking spray
- Large mixing bowl
- Medium mixing bowl
- Mixing spoon
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Zip-top bags
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- In medium mixing bowl, combine flours, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, and set aside.
- In large bowl, beat sugar and margarine until fluffy. Add applesauce.
- Alternate adding flour mixture and applesauce mixture to large bowl, mixing between each addition.
- Stir in raisins, rolled oats, and chocolate mini-morsels.
- Spread batter evenly into pan.
- Bake 30 – 40 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove pan from oven and cool completely.
- Cut into 12
bars.
To Serve:
Pack individual serving sizes in a zip-top bag.
