Program
Description:
From preteens to adulthood, find out who is at risk for
eating disorders and what you can do about this growing health concern. Find out
how teens' diets compare to recommendations and ways to reach them for
improvement. Lesson plans, activities, and training materials
provided.
Program Objectives:
- Differentiate between Food Pyramid portion sizes and portion sizes when eating out or at home.
- Identify competent eating and exercise principles and plan to choose fruits, vegetables, dairy, and whole grains more often.
- Plan to be physically active 60 minutes per day more often.
- Increase ability to combat negative body image, identify eating disorder symptoms, and find community assistance, if needed.
Program
Audience:
The program audience would include health,
physical education, family consumer science professionals and other interested
teachers, school nurses, health staff, and parents. The program can also be
taught directly to middle school and high school youth or youth
groups.
