Green Industry Entomology Short Course

Where: Erie, PA

The Entomology Short Course is an intensive day-long course designed for green industry professionals to increase their knowledge of insects. Participants will learn to identify common insects that are found in plant production, landscapes, and turfgrass; both insect pests and beneficial insects will be discussed. Prediction of pest activity through phenology and Growing Degree Days will be reviewed and management of pests using an IPM strategy will be discussed. Pesticide Recertification credits and ISA CEUs will be available for participants.

Winter Tree & Shrub Identification - Pittsburgh, PA

Winter Tree and Shrub Identification is targeted to green industry professionals who often give estimates in the winter months. Proper identification of woody ornamental plants on customers’ properties is important to knowing the level of care those plants require, resulting in more accurate, more profitable estimates. The class starts with a classroom session to go over the basic points of winter botany, followed by a hands-on session outdoors.

2012 Four-State Turf and Ornamentals Conference

2012 Landscape Pruning Workshop

This session will focus on pruning small trees and shrubs, including training young shade trees. It is geared toward landscape professionals who care for a variety of plants in the landscapes they manage.
