Fayette County 4-H Scholarships Awarded

Congratulations to 4-H Members!

The Fayette County 4-H /Youth Development Program is pleased to announce the selection of eight Fayette County 4-H Members as recipients of the Fayette County 4-H Scholarship. The 2011 scholarship is supported by funds raised from the Fayette County 4-H Benefit Auction that was held this past summer during the Fayette County Fair. Vickie Baker, chair of the auction, along with many other Fayette County 4-H Advisory Committee Members, 4-H Leaders, 4-H Members, and other volunteers spent many hours planning and organizing the auction for all 4-H Members in Fayette County. This year’s auction collected over $8,000 allowing us to present $500 scholarships to the eight recipients. The purpose of the auction is to raise funds to support educational scholarships and 4-H program activities/events at the local, regional, state, and national levels for Fayette County 4-H members.  4-H is the youth development education program of Penn State Cooperative Extension. Anyone ages 5 to 18 may participate in the 4-H Youth Development Programs in PA. 4-H helps young people become self-directed, productive, and contributing members of a diverse society. The following scholarship recipients are all current or former members of 4-H in Fayette County.  The scholarship money they received can be used toward expenses for advanced education, such as college, technical, nursing, etc.
