A suite of educational programs for agricultural and forestry business and landowners, providing key considerations and steps for planning the transition of their assets (and business) from one generation to the next.
The suite includes in-person workshops, a more detailed multi-session short course, and a webinar series. Programs address Goals and the Planning Process, Dynamics of Family Communication, Estate Planning, Planning Financially for Retirement and Health Care Needs, Analyzing the Farm Business, Fair vs. Equal in the Distribution of Assets, and Assembling a Planning Team. Participants are empowered to draft a written farm succession plan that accounts for the legal, human and financial risks, while outlining steps to transfer the business to the next generation.
