Penn State Extension has an opportunity for you to learn nutritious and delicious ways to prepare your favorite recipes using less sugar, salt, and fats at two upcoming Dining with Diabetes programs. The program focuses on learning to manage the disease by understanding important test numbers, meal planning, food preparation, and physical activity. The series offers food tastings, physical activity, and ideas to take home. Class participants will receive a variety of resources, including a recipe book and exercise DVD. A light supper will be served at all sessions except the information session.
The first series begins with an information session on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. The series continues on January 29, and February 5, 12 and 19, also from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. It will be held at the Sight Center of Northwest PA, 2545 West 26 Street, Erie (just west of I-79 and West 26 Street).
The second series of classes will be held at Tullio Towers, 21 West 9 Street, Erie. The information session will be held on February 21, 2013, from 11 am to 1 pm. The remaining classes will be held on February 28 and March 7, 14, and 21, at the same time. This is a special opportunity for anyone who is eligible for Medicare or Medicaid. There will be no charge for these individuals.
