Miguel Antonio Saviroff, MS
- Miguel Saviroff graduated with a B.S. in Agriculture, with emphasis in Ag Business in California State University Chico, in 1980. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Ag Economics at the Ohio State University, Columbus, in 1987.
Miguel has been an extension educator for Penn State Cooperative Extension in Somerset County for the last 16 years. His areas of interest are: Farm Financial Management, Business Planning for new Entrepreneurs, and Managing the Hispanic Workforce. He is based in Somerset County but covers all the state according to the programming of his Statewide Team.
He teaches farm records and agricultural budgeting for farm planning, the preparation of financial statements and how to analyze them. He is part of the teaching roster of “Exploring the Farm Dream,” “Farm$en$e,” and “Food for Profit.” These three programs cover the entrepreneurship cycle of the farm business, and he also helps farmers in the development of their Hispanic workforce.
Miguel is a native of Venezuela where he worked in extension programs with the United World College of Agriculture, and the Foundation for the Farmers’ Service (FUSAGRI). He was also the Director of Production for the Venezuelan Ministry of Agriculture. His wife Margaret teaches languages at the Conemaugh Valley School District in Johnstown, and his twin sons, Michael and Gabriel are graduates from Penn State University.
