John Berry

Maureen and I started our careers as dairy farmers. After 20 years milking cows, raising pigs, cutting timber and tapping maple trees – we sold our Bradford/Tioga County Pennsylvania farm and got real jobs.

I have been with Penn State Extension since 1997. Half my time is spent working on marketing and financial management issues with corn, wheat, soybean and dairy farmers. The other half is spent on educational programs for direct-to-consumer retail and agri-tourism farm marketers.

My family lives in Emmaus, PA. Maureen is a Registered Nurse and works for Aetna. We have three nearly grown children. Jill is 33, has a B.S. in psychology and is a marketer for a home-care and hospice provider. She really enjoys this position and is learning how to deal with corporate life. Chris is 32 has a six year old daughter and is a stone mason. He is an artist working in his chosen media. Kyle is 26. Kyle is passionate about composing and playing music for the acoustic guitar. He is a finisher at the world's largest builder of church organs.

Besides each other, Maureen and I enjoy our extended families, the Delaware beach, flower and shrubbery gardening, and we are crazy for dogs.
