John P. Wodehouse
With a B.S. in Business Administration and Finance from Albright College, coupled with a Landscape Nursery Science degree from Penn State, I focus on approaching agricultural business decision making from the sustainability and growth vantage points.
With a combined agriculture industry and educational experience exceeding over 18 years in the fields of Landscape Nursery Science, Landscape Design/Build and College Grounds Facilities Management, I am able to help you with your agricultural, entrepreneurial and agribusiness curiosities. Currently my areas of expertise revolve around goal setting, farm accounting, data and record keeping, financial analysis, triple bottom line, whole farm and enterprise business planning workshops, and online program development.
In my role as an extension educator with Penn State Cooperative Extension, I pride myself in holding the science in high esteem and remaining connected to relevant societal needs and trends in Agriculture. Seeking fresh and relevant teaching methods, which foster and advance agriculture as well as provide an enjoyable engaging learning experience, also peak my professional interests.
My heritage is rooted in agriculture and farming based, through and through. I grew up on a 100 acre farm in Columbia County PA. My Dad farmed. Our family grew cash crops and raised champion sired Golden Retrievers puppies. Locally, in the Columbia County area, I worked on vegetable farms, dairy farms, made tons of hay in summers, and I worked on a Christmas tree farm. This extensive industry experience along with my lifelong commitment to education grants me the ability to connect well with folks in agriculture. All-the-while throughout my career, I strive to continuously learn, improve myself and help those around me. In my spare time I value and enjoy spending time with my two wonderful children, my beautiful wife, and my lovely supportive family.
