Heather Manzo is a regional food system and community economic development Educator specializing in the business and marketing needs related to agriculture and land use. She is heavily involved in all aspects of agricultural value chain optimization. She provides technical assistance at the individual and community level, is part of the Penn State Direct Marketing Ag Team, and teaches a variety of classes for new farmers and food startups. She works at the national level on select USDA initiatives, participates in professional associations, serves on several local boards, and is a contributing member of the National Community, Local, Regional Food Systems CoP. Prior experience includes leading and implementing organizational level sustainability plans, LEED project management, and international research projects in horticulture and agriculture. Educational credentials include a MSc in Sustainable Systems and a BSc in Business and Marketing. In her free time she practices Permaculture, tends to grow pumpkin patches in her front yard, and explores Penn’s woods on bike, foot, or skis.
