- B.S. in Elementary Education from Penn State
- M.A. in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo
Ev was born in Maine, and then before starting 1st grade, her family moved to State College, PA, where she grew up. After graduating from Penn State, she married Mike Simmons, and they lived in the Buffalo, NY vicinity for the next 5 years. She taught 6th grade for two years in Derby, NY, before taking a professional break to have two sons, Michael and Christopher, and move to Jersey Shore, PA. Once the boys were in school, she was a substitute teacher, until becoming a full-time caregiver during Mike's valiant battle with bone cancer. After his death in 1993, she substituted in the local elementary schools until taking the Lycoming County 4-H Program Assistant position in 1994, where she continues today.
