Pond Management Workshop 2017

Posted: May 18, 2017

Join Penn State Extension for a pond management workshop, May 31, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Faith Presbyterian Church, 1801 Colonial Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17112.

Anyone with a pond, or simply interested in rural pond management, is welcome to attend. Participants will learn how activities happening on the land around ponds may influence their water quality; look beneath the water’s surface to gain an understanding of the plants, fish and other creatures that may live in and around ponds in central Pennsylvania; and see how the location, size and shape of a pond influence its condition.

The program starts inside with an overview of pond basics and then moves outside to a nearby pond for observation and questions. Special emphasis will be on plant management and algal control. Participants may bring samples of pond plants or algae for later identification.

The deadline for registration is May 30. Visit Water Resources website for registration and more details.
