SUSTAINABLE GARDENING CLASSES OFFERED

The classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. (to 9:00 p.m. for the April 11 class) at the Cumberland County Extension office, 310 Allen Road, Carlisle. The dates and topics are: “Herbs in the Garden” on April 4 – learn about growing decorative and useful herbs in the garden; “Home Greenhouses and High Tunnels” on April 11 – the basics of getting started with a home greenhouse or high tunnel; “Planting Your Woodland Garden” on April 18 – planting in dry and shady moist areas to re-establish biodiversity in the woods; and “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly…Insects” on April 25 – learn how to identify the good and bad bugs you find in your home and garden. Classes are taught by Penn State Extension Educators and include time for your questions; the fee covers handouts and light refreshments.

The registration fee for each class is $6.00; but you can register for all 4 for only $20.00 and save $4.00. Class size is limited, and registration is requested by April 2, 2012.
