Pollinator Celebration and Butterfly Container Workshop
Posted: May 23, 2012
The Pollinator Celebration Program from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. includes an update on Colony Collapse Disorder and presentations on native bees in the home garden and best herbs for pollinators. Local beekeeper Joyce Wilder will share information on the basics of beekeeping, and offer tastings of several varieties of local honey, also available for purchase.
At the Butterfly Container Workshop from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., you will make and take home a container with both butterfly nectar and larval host plants. Learn about the lifecycle of the butterfly and the best plants for attracting butterflies to your garden. The workshop will be held outdoors, weather permitting, and we provide the container, potting soil, and plants.
Class size for both sessions is limited, so please register early. You may register for either one or both programs. Registration fee is $10.00 for the morning Pollinator Celebration and $20.00 for the Butterfly Container Workshop, or $25.00 for both as long as space is available. Lunch is on your own during the break from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Penn State is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce.
