Grain Marketing Meeting Features Stewart-Peterson Advisor
A Grain marketing meeting is scheduled for 6:00PM at the Hoss’s Restaurant in Carlisle (along Rt. 11) on Wednesday, February 8 and Wednesday, March 14, 2012. The February 8th meeting will feature a program and discussion with Jacquie Voeks, a senior market advisor with Stewart-Peterson. She will be providing a commentary on the grain markets and how they will impact the dairy and livestock markets. Jacquie is regularly heard on the WILL radio network in Illinois and presents educational seminars on markets around the United States. Pesticide Update Meeting- Monday, March 26, 2012
Pesticide update meetings will be held at the Cumberland County Extension Office on Monday, March 26, 2012. The meetings will include a talk on Insect Pests in Corn and Soybeans and a talk on New Herbicide Products for 2012. The insect pest talk will cover grasshoppers, spider mites, bean leaf beetles and the brown marmorated stink bug. In addition, there will be a discussion of the emerging picture of corn rootworm resistance to the Yieldgard (CRY3Bb1) gene in mid-west states, and practices to avoid any resistance showing up on Pennsylvania farms. Each meeting will provide 2 core and 2 category 01 update credits for the Pennsylvania Restricted Use Pesticide License. One meeting will be held from 1-3 PM and the content of that meeting will be repeated at another meeting from 7-9 PM. Fumigation Procedures – Pesticide Credits (Before, During, and After)
Penn State Extension Educator John Bray will teach a re-certification class for licensed applicators holding a fumigation pesticide license. The class will be held at the Cumberland County Extension Office on March 26, 2012 (11:00 to noon). Learn about the required fumigation management plan as well as products, procedures, and safety precautions needed for successful fumigation of grain or soil. Fumigation credits will be provided to licensed applicators. Pre-registration is requested. Please contact the Cumberland County Extension office at 240-6500
