Crawford County Co-Chairs Regional 4-H Fashion Revue

The top seven Regional senior division winners received gold ribbons and are invited to compete at the State Revue, which is held on the Penn State Campus on July 27, 2011. This event is held during Penn State’s 4-H Achievement Week. Participants learn important skills about construction, wardrobe planning, and selection. They are also taught the value of good posture, grooming, and physical fitness. Penn State’s Cooperative Extension coordinates the 4-H program in Pennsylvania.
Marcie White was selected for the honors group at the Regional Revue and will be able to represent Crawford County at the State Fashion Revue competing with sixty other 4-H’ers from across the Commonwealth for a place in the state honors group.
The theme for this year’s contest was “4-H Fashion Fiesta.’ Therefore, the decorations and workshops planned for the contestants, leaders and guests were all theme related. Separate workshops were held for participants, parents, leaders and guests while the youth participants were having projects judged. Paula Lucas, the Crawford County 4-H Program Assistant led a workshop on “Decorating Jean Storage Pockets.” Several Crawford County 4-H Clubs collected and donated the pockets and supplies for this session. Bryan Dickinson, Lawrence County 4-H Educator, led a “Diversity” workshop and Country Stitchers 4-H Club leader, Jeanne Willis served on the tabulation committee.
Professional judges were secured to judge each division. Marie Marteeny, of Crawford County and former Crawford County 4-H’er, judged the construction division.
Extension Educator Wanda Braymer, served on the Planning Committee for the event, along with representatives from Lawrence County. Crawford County Summer 4-H Interns, Katie Gajdowski and Tara Sturey led the workshop on narrations and modeling. Additionally, they created the Fiesta Mix of Music for the concluding Fashion Show.
