Protein Supplements
Protein supplements such as cottonseed (left) or roasted soybeans (right) can be used to increase the protein level in a grain ration.
Typical supplements will include soybean meal, roasted soybeans, cottonseed, brewers or distillers grains, or flour mill by-products. Beware of using any dairy protein supplements because of the amount of copper in the supplements. Many nutritionists still disagree over the amount of copper required in a goat ration, but care should still be given to overfeeding this nutrient.
