Tom Brant
RULE VII had a class party theme of the 70's in their final study institute and Tom Brant was an astronaut. His dedication to RULE and to leadership has been demonstrated to be "out of this world" in his work for York County, his chairmanship of ILAC PA, and his role on the RULE board.
Tom retired in July 2009 as an Appointed Official for the County of York’s Executive Director for the Division of Parks and Natural Resources, since 1994. He oversaw 11 county parks of 4400 acres with 30 individuals and a $2 M budget, as well as, oversight of Liquid Fuels, County Support, Fleet Management, Cooperative Extension, Conservation District and AgLand Preservation departments. 1994, Tom served as a General Manager of a local agric-business retail/wholesale company for Pennfield Corporation at their D. E. Horn & Company of Red Lion, Inc. location, since 1974. This included serving York County with a .5M bushel grain elevator, bulk/bag fertilizer warehouses, agricultural pesticides, various bulk/bag livestock feeds and a retail store/custom feed mill.
He graduated from Penn State in 1972 with an associate degree in Agriculture Business, York College of PA in 1996 with an associate degree in Science and the PA Rural Leadership (RULE) in 1999. He resides in York Township with his wife, Ruth Ann. Tom is a life-long resident of York County and enjoys traveling and serving on numerous community organizations. In 2006, he and Ruth Ann purchased his family farm and are currently remodeling the farmhouse for their future residence. Tom graduated from the 1999 RULE program in Class VII. He has served as chairman of the annual International Leadership Alumni Conference (ILAC) at Hershey, PA in 2005 and attended eight ILACs. Since 2007, he has served on the Advisory Board and in 2009 became President, as well as, a charter member of the Leadership Circle. Tom and his wife, Ruthann are currently remodeling their home.
