Planning and Zoning Course Program
The PMPEI Planning and Zoning Course Program includes four 10-hour courses.
-
The Course in Community Planning
-
The Course in Zoning
-
The Course in Subdivision and Land Development Review
-
The Course in Zoning Administration
Each PMPEI course provides10 hours of in-depth instruction with the information officials must have to carry out their responsibilities and do an effective job. In most instances it is the first organized training citizen planners and zoning officials receive. The courses are designed to them get "up-to-speed" so they can more quickly become active and contributing members of their commissions or boards.
The Planning and Zoning Course Program is taught by Certified PMPEI Instructors who are qualified practitioners and have completed an intensive training program to prepare them to teach each of the courses. (See Certified Instructor Training)
The standard course registration fee is currently $95. For this fee students receive instruction from two experienced planning and zoning practitioners; a specially prepared and easy-to-use copy of the PA Municipalities Planning Code; and a course handbook. Most importantly, class size is kept to a reasonable number (maximum 30) so that students can ask questions and actively participate in classroom discussions. PMPEI courses provide an excellent opportunity to network with others and share information and experiences.
Students who attend all sessions of a course receive a certificate of completion. For students who miss one or more sessions, PMPEI guarantees they can make-up the missed session(s) at any time, at any location where the course is being offered, at no additional charge.
