Jeffrey T. Fowler, Penn State Extension District 2 Director for Clarion, Warren, Venango and Forest Counties, was recently re-elected to the post of academic director for the Sports Turf Managers Association. STMA is a professional organization of more than 2,600 men and women who manage sports fields worldwide. Fowler was first named to the position at an STMA conference and exhibition in San Antonio, Texas in 2014.
"Technology allows us to provide educational information that can be utilized at the convenience of the learner," Fowler said. "I am passionate about providing continuing education to the association's membership and am very honored to serve on the STMA Board."
Fowler is Penn State Extension’s Western Pennsylvania Turf Specialist, serving in 20 counties. He applies his expertise at sports facilities at the local, state and national levels and often acts as a neutral arbitrator between school boards, greens committees, employees and administrators.
Fowler has been active in the STMA since 1999 and has served on several committees for the organization, including the conference education, information outreach, awards and the editorial committees. He has also been a volunteer on the grounds crew at the Little League World Series for 13 years and served as the volunteer field manager for the Cranberry Little League Complex.
