Master Gardener Projects
Master Gardener Dawn Hertzler led a project to install a wetlands garden at the Glen Acres Elementary School in West Goshen Township.
Master Gardener Liz Alakszay led a project to install a butterfly garden in the Ship Road Park, West Whiteland Township, working with West Whiteland Township Parks and Recreation staff, the Downingtown School District, and the Bluebird Society. The garden educates children and adults on native plants and habitats that attract butterflies.
For many years, Penn State Master Gardeners of Chester County have assisted the horticulture therapist at Barclay Friends, a residential facility for the elderly in West Chester.
Penn State Master Gardeners of Chester County staff displays at area fairs, festivals, and farmers markets to teach about pesticide safety, the importance of pollinators, composting, the use of native plants, and other topics.
Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Chester County maintain demonstration gardens on the grounds of the Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester.
A garden to benefit intellectually challenged campers at the Bournelyf Special Camp.
