Capital Region ServSafe-The Capital Region completed the second pilot program of ServSafe, a food safety educational program for employees and volunteers of food establishments. Over 98% of participants have successfully completed the certification exam. Agents provided input and training for the statewide implementation of ServSafe training to be conducted in Fall 2000. Food Processing-A sub-committee of the Capital Region outreach council (involving PennTap, CE and Extension staff) developed a grant and with the Partnership funding, conducting a face to face interview and focus group study with small food processors. Marketing Research was involved in the development of the assessment and summary of data. As a result, committee members from the same outreach organizations are beginning the planning of a joint education effort targeted to the identified needs for Spring 2001. ChildCare Training-Two Family and Consumer Sciences agents participated as a part of the CYF Consortium to conduct mentoring and educational program for childcare providers. Management Training-X- Management and Development provided inservice training for the Capital CEDs on the topic Managing Generation X. Annual Report-After consulting with Alumni Office regarding their annual report and in conjunction with Jackie Rosenfeld and Judy Richardson, the Capital Region is engaged in the writing and printing of a specially designed annual report for the region that will also include a template and specific county information insert. Lunch and Learn-A Family and Consumer Science agent is presenting as part of the Penn State Downtown Center Lunch and Learn series. Food for Profit-Winifred McGee, Lebanon County worked with Jack Gido, PennTap and SBDC to provide a Food for Profit educational program. Outreach Express-A mini roads scholar type of program is being planned by the Capital Region Outreach Council. The goal is to engage 40 faculty members in a day tour of various Penn State Outreach activities and engage them in discussion of potential future outreach opportunities.
