2.1: Getting Started
Getting financing for your business can be a daunting process, but there are many available options. Does your planned venture meet the criteria for federal or state agribusiness or conservation grants? If not, are your plans flexible enough to adapt? Grants can be a good source of funding, but they can also require a fair amount of work to obtain.
A good starting point would be your local lending institutions. Compare rates, and ask about their policies regarding agribusiness lending. Some banks have specialized agricultural lending divisions that may be more understanding of your needs.
