The Farm Safety and Health Quiz Bowl was developed by the Penn State Extension Ag Safety and Health Program to motivate youth to increase their awareness and understanding of agricultural safety and health issues. The four FFA teams competed in a quiz show format to test their knowledge of farm safety and health hazards and recommended practices. Teams and coaches have access to a range of resources such as the National Safe Tractor & Machinery Operation Program Task Sheets and Penn State Farm Safety Factsheets to prepare for the competition. Not only do the team members learn about farm safety and health, but they increase their leadership and public speaking skills. One of the intended outcomes is that participates will learn to promote agricultural safety and health through their organizations and potentially in their own farm operations.

The Pennsylvania Farm Safety and Health Quiz Bowl is administered by the Penn State University – Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering’s Agricultural Safety and Health Program.
