Manure Storage Safety Videos

We have developed two demonstration videos that address hazards and ventilation of confined space manure storages.
  • Introduction to Manure Storages
For those who are unfamiliar with manure storages.
  • Reducing Entry Risk: Solid Cover Storages
For storages with a solid cover over the storage and is approximately 24 minutes long.
  • Reducing Entry Risk: Slotted Floor Storages
For storages with a partial or a fully slotted floor. This video has three parts and is approximately 27 minutes. The first part is for when there is a low level of gas in the manure storage before ventilating, while the second part is for when there is a high level of gas in the manure storage before ventilating. The third part is to show the effect of using an outside source of fresh air to ventilate manure storages. We highly recommend viewing all three parts of this video.
  • Mushroom Composting Facility Accident Investigation
This 3D animation re-enacts the sequence of events of the workplace incident that occurred at a mushroom composting facility in Langley, B.C., Canada, on September 5, 2008.  Three workers died and two others were seriously injured in the incident.  This video helps to educate workers about the dangers of hydrogen sulfide.
