Bucks County Holstein Club Annual Meeting 2012

Deb & Ray Detweiler, Detweiler Farm, Perkasie, had the high herd in Bucks County for milk, fat and protein, with 30,151 LB. Milk, 1044 LB. Fat and 945 LB. Protein. Ray attributes their cows’ production to his excellent team of family members and employees. Debbie cares for the calves while Josh & Jacob Heacock, Gina Brooks and Chris Simack care for the cows and help with the field work.
Deb and Ray also won the lifetime production award for milk, fat and protein with cow #368, 269,959 LB. Milk, 10,524 LB. Fat and 8501 LB. Protein.
The top producing individual cows belonged to Dave and Joshua Bishop, Ensenada Holsteins, Plumsteadville. Ensenada Offroad Jillo topped all cows in the county for milk and protein with 40,774 LB. Milk and 1201 LB. Protein. Ensenada Marsh Purity had the highest fat production at 1384 LB.
The Low Somatic Cell award went to Delaware Valley College, 147,000.
The Bucks County Holstein Club also awards the highest scoring 4-H Holstein projects in the calf, heifer and cow categories. Youth Committee chairperson Annette Worthington announced the winners:
Calf: Nicole Hardy, Bedminster
Heifer: Jenna Hardy, Bedminster
Cow: Nicole Hardy, Bedminster
Ken Raney, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association was the guest speaker.
