Engaging Youth in Their Water Resources

Posted: April 27, 2017

Extension Educators Susan Boser and Jen McKinley recently attended “Creek Connections” presented by Allegheny College at Camp Kon-o-Kwee in Fombell, PA.

The day showcased student-led projects researching their local waterways and introduces students and teachers to local professionals working in natural resources fields.

Susan and Jen manned a table highlighting Extension’s curriculum resources for youth and teachers related to natural resources, and also led a focus group activity for students using 4-H’s Rain to Drain curriculum. During the activity, students simulated rainfall on a watershed model to see how development affects runoff to local streams and creeks.
