Farmers Learn Grain Marketing Strategies at Workshop
Posted: December 18, 2012
Twenty-seven farmers and agricultural employees attended a workshop last week to learn grain marketing techniques for their farms and professions. John Berry, Penn State Ag Marketing Educator, led the participants through this workshop utilizing the program Winning the Game. Developed by the University of Minnesota Center for Farm Financial Management, Winning the Game simulates real-life grain marketing decisions, enabling the participants to practice marketing without the risk of losing their money. At the end of the workshop, the participants were able to develop a marketing plan for their farms and decide whether to sell or store their grain based on actual market information.
Funding for this workshop was provided by Elderton State Bank.
