Pennsylvania is now home to the newest state chapter of the Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals (ANREP). The association is open to all current and retired extension employees working in the fields of environmental education, fisheries, forestry, wood sciences, range, recreation, waste management, water, wildlife, and related disciplines.

The Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals (ANREP) is a professional development opportunity for all extension employees working in areas related to natural resources. This includes employees of land-grant university Cooperative Extension Services and Sea Grant Extension Programs. While many natural resource extension professionals in Pennsylvania have been members of the national ANREP association for many years, they now have the opportunity to interact locally by joining the new Pennsylvania Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals (PA-ANREP) chapter.

In the fall of 2014, current members of the national association who work in Pennsylvania gathered to discuss the formation of a state chapter. Draft by-laws were written and in February all local members voted on and approved the by-laws for the formation of the PA state chapter. In March, all existing members of the national association working in PA were given the opportunity to nominate and vote for the inaugural officers of PA-ANREP. Congratulations go out to President – Jennifer Fetter, President-Elect – Bryan Swistock, and Secretary – Amy Galford. This crew of officers has been busily working on the first few activities of PA-ANREP, including enrolling members in the state chapter, spreading the word about PA-ANREP, and developing the PA-ANREP website. PA-ANREP is also hoping to coordinate a regional ANREP meeting with members from surrounding states sometime in late 2015.

If you are interested in joining PA-ANREP, please contact Secretary Amy Galford for more information. Dues for the remainder of 2015, for membership in just the state chapter, will be only $1. Non-extension employees may also join as student or affiliate members.
