Reminder: Vaccinate Your Horses

Now is the time of year to think about vaccinating our horse. Horses should to be inoculated every year for West Nile, Tetanus, Influenza, Rhinopneumonitis, Eastern and Western Encephalitis.
It is recommended to booster the Influenza, Rhinopneumonitis vaccination after 6 months. Inoculating your horse is crucial to maintain horse health and prevention is much better and cheaper than cure! Not only can these diseases be severe, weakening and in some instances fatal, but their economic cost to the owner of the horse could be substantial.
As always check with your vet to make sure you are vaccinating your horse with the appropriate inoculates for your region of the state. While the vet is visiting your stable it is a good idea to have the horse’s teeth checked and have gelding’s sheaths cleaned.
