2012 PA 4-H Horse Show Judges and Show Manager School

The program is designed to train 4-H or open show judges, applicants for the PA 4-H judges list, show managers, show committees, judging team coaches and members of horse judging teams. Featured clinicians are Ms. Debra Jones Wright, owner of New Beginning Performance Horses and American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) judge and Mr. Kerry Kocher, owner of Stonfence Farm and United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) judge
Sessions will include stock and hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle, reining, western riding, hunter hack, working hunter, show operations, patterns and course design, tips for judging team coaches, preparation of oral reasons, judging halter horses and more. Lectures and videos will be used to study horses and judging techniques.
A comprehensive offering of sessions for horse show managers and show officials will be included on Saturday. Sessions will be conducted by the PA State 4-H Horse Show manager and committee members. A panel discussion and idea sharing session will include topics and questions as identified by program participants.
All youth and collegiate coaches and judging team members are invited to participate. Topics in this option will feature: resources for judging teams and coaches, judging criteria for halter and performance classes, and organization and preparation of oral reasons.
Registrations will be accepted by mail through February 1, 2012. Walk-in registrations will be accepted as space allows for an additional fee.
