Whether you are facilitating a dairy advisory team or are simply a team member, this webinar series provides useful information about popular topics related to successful team operation. Join team members from across the United States in a one-hour format featuring interactive presentations from experienced team facilitators followed by questions and discussion among your fellow team leaders from various states. All sessions are held 10:30-11:30 a.m. (EDT/EST)

September 21, 2012: Staying on Course: Helping Your Team to Achieve its Goals

Learn strategies for breaking up long-term goals into manageable chunks that can be monitored and completed, plus new tactics for refocusing goals to revitalize long-term teams. Instructor is Dr. Lisa Holden, associate professor, Penn State Department of Animal Science.

October 12, 2012: Making Data Count: Managing Information for the Team

Delve into the sources, reports and tools that help teams synthesize information from the vast amount of data available to them. Learn ways to more efficiently manage and report key data and information that fit team goals. Instructor is Robert Goodling, Extension associate, Penn State Department of Animal Science.

November 16, 2012: Dealing Effectively with Difficult Team Members

This session will present a series of short examples and discuss some strategies for managing “difficult” team members. Instructor is Dr. Lisa Holden, associate professor, Penn State Department of Animal Science.

December 21, 2012: Dealing with Complex Issues

Examine strategies to identify the complex issues facing many dairy operations and how to integrate manageable goals into a streamlined team process. Identify ways to dissect and address components of some common issues. Instructor is Robert Goodling, Extension associate, Penn State Department of Animal Science.

January 18, 2013: Farm, Family, and Fitting the “Right” People Around the Table

This session will focus on getting the people on the team and around the table who have the greatest impact on the business. Tips on how to utilize busy people on the team on a temporary basis and making sure that everyone contributes to team success. Instructor is Mr. John Frey, Executive Director of Center for Dairy Excellence.

February 15, 2013: Hot Topics for Teams

Got the winter blahs? Team getting stale? What are some current dairy industry issues and how do they impact your teams? Learn how to use what’s happening “out there” to help your team to re-energize and re-focus. Dr. Lisa Holden, associate professor, Penn State Department of Animal Science. 

March 15, 2013: Having a Successful Advisory Team

Review recent research comparing the goals and subsequent achievements of various Pennsylvania advisory teams in relation to their cohort herds. Examine the annual impact of advisory teams and what potential they mean to the profitability of a dairy operation. Instructor is Robert Goodling, Extension associate, Penn State Department of Animal Science.
