Grower Meets Buyer at LFS 2011

Growers, involved in food production, were introduced to buyers looking for local food sources for their restaurants, stores, markets, institutions and schools. LFS highlighted products from beets to beer at the Chatham University Fitness Center and Penn State Extension Educator, Heather Mikulas, arranged a full day of activities. Demonstrations by well known chefs preparing ingredients from local sources, workshops on marketing strategies and information on food access left everyone “hungry” for more!
If you were unable to attend LFS, or simply want to add to your knowledge and contacts, why not consider attending the 13th Annual National Value-Added Agricultural Conference this month in Pittsburgh, PA.  Co-hosted by Penn State and Ohio State, sessions on direct marketing, processing and distribution will investigate what role each plays in the economic success of value-added agriculture.
