What is a Riparian Buffer?
A riparian buffer is a vegetated area next to streams, wetlands, ponds, rivers and lakes. Come and see how they work at Penn State's Agriculture and Environment Center at Ag Progress Days. There will be a model riparian buffer which viewers can use to show the AEC experts what their riparian buffer situation is on their land. Ask questions, get advise, and enjoy yourself while learning more about riparian buffers.
What can a Riparian Buffer do for me?
Riparian buffers are a farmer and landowner’s most effective tool for protecting the health of the waterways, livestock, adjacent crops or property, and all who drink and use water downstream. There are also monetary benefits available for eligible landowners who implement this best management practice. Learn more at CREPpa.org and at the AEC table at APD.
