Chris Duerr at the National Shooting Competition 2011
My Week At 4H Nationals
Hi, my name is Chris Duerr I shot small-bore rifle for Pennsylvania this year 2011 in Texas. If you were wondering, we actually came in first place as a team! Individually I placed third! So yes, I enjoyed myself quite a bit while I was down there. The food in and around your shooting complex was very good. There were very few things that I did not like when I was in your state, one of them was the heat! I can’t stand the heat, but there’s nothing you can do to change that. The other was some of the people were a little rude but again nothing you can do with them. Where the ceremonies were held was a very nice place, good cold A/C, a lot of space to sit and there was food there! Which was good! But the food you served at the opening ceremony was great! I went back several times to fill my plate up! The shooting facilities that you let us use were amazing! Your range officers were all polite and made the line really safe. I made a lot of new friends down there and still talk to two of them, Hannah Walker from Florida and Allison Newman from Louisiana. I have been shooting for about 4 years now 1 ½ years competitively, I am doing pretty well, but I am not sure if shooting in college is really my thing. I know I will defiantly keep coming back to nationals even though I am 17 my birthday cuts off so I can come back three more times! I think id like to try archery small-bore pistol and air pistol. After coming back from nationals I went to camp Perry to shoot their small-bore competition and did ok I placed 116th out of 322 shooters and fourth in Pennsylvania out of 24 shooters. Some of the people that shot up there were unbelievably good! I shot just a bit above average the whole time we were there, but one of the girls’ dropped three points in one hundred and twenty shots. And she didn’t win! I couldn’t have asked for a better time or experience while I was there, thank you for hosting the event in your state it was another wonderful experience and memory in my life that I will never forget!
Thank You Again!
