Youth of all walks of life (urban and rural) are involved in the 4-H poultry program. The 4-H poultry projects are some of the most popular 4-H programs in Pennsylvania.
Project work is the backbone of the 4-H poultry program. Project areas are offered to youth 9 to 18 years old. Subjects include embryology, raising and rearing poultry, and poultry and egg consumer projects. These projects are what motivate youth to learn teamwork, develop interpersonal skills, build enthusiasm and enjoy challenges.
Penn State Poultry Science Club Named Second in Nation
February 26, 2014The Poultry Science Club won the following honors at the United States Poultry and Egg Association College program in Atlanta GA. Taylor Young was named national "Member of the Year", Corissa Steimling was 2nd place national "Member of the Year", the club was named 2nd place "Club of the Year", and we had the 3rd place Scrapbook. Amy Mayer also received the Don R. Sloan Undergraduate Research Award in recognition for a superior undergraduate research presentation at the meeting.
Pennsylvania 4-H’ers Competitive at the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference
December 6, 2013Eight 4-H’ers represented Pennsylvania in three contest areas at the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference on November 21 at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, KY, carrying on a winning tradition in this national competition.
