Youth of all walks of life (urban and rural) are involved in the 4-H poultry program. The 4-H poultry projects are some of the most popular 4-H programs in Pennsylvania.
Project work is the backbone of the 4-H poultry program. Project areas are offered to youth 9 to 18 years old. Subjects include embryology, raising and rearing poultry, and poultry and egg consumer projects. These projects are what motivate youth to learn teamwork, develop interpersonal skills, build enthusiasm and enjoy challenges.
John P. Miller Receives 2015 Carolyn Blum Memorial Award
June 8, 2015Miller was recognized with the PA Poultry Youth Service Award at the Youth Poultry 101 Conference on May 2.
Joshua Cassar was first place overall individual. Penn State Students Place Second Overall in National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest.
June 8, 2015For the second straight year, students from Penn State's Department of Animal Science placed second overall at the USPOULTRY Foundation Ted Cameron National Poultry Judging Contest held at Louisiana State University on April 15-17. Josh Cassar, Lansdale, PA, was first place over all individual.
Penn State Poultry Science Club Named National Club of the Year
February 16, 2015Penn State's Poultry Science Club was recognized as the top club in the country at the 2015 International Poultry and Processing Exposition in Atlanta; Hannah Misner was second in member of the year competition.
