SOMK is an on-going youth-driven community outreach program associated with Operation: Military Kids (OMK). Through participation in SOMK, youth help generate community awareness of issues faced by youth in National Guard, Army Reserve, and other military families and foster community activism in solving the problems they and their families face.
Operation: Military Kids in Pennsylvania knows our state has amazing military kids and we would like for them to share their story! We are looking for creative, innovative military kids to submit artwork or poetry depicting the life of a military child. Selected submissions will be exhibited at the OMK Salute to the Military Child Family Fun Fair on April 7, 2013 at Penn State’s Snider Agricultural Arena. All entries must be postmarked by 15 March, 2013.
Camp NTC (Name that Camp) August 18-24, 2013 Camp NTC is an opportunity for campers with and without disabilities to have fun in the outdoors, enjoy making new friends, and challenge themselves with new activities all to enhance self-confidence and personal growth. In addition, campers get to take ownership of this camp and give it its official name! Campers will be able to meet other children and youth who are going through some of the same issues and be able to learn from each other. Activities will include climbing wall, zip line, low ropes course, nature center, arts and crafts, archery, fishing and boating, swimming, sports, games pavilion, group games and so much more.
