The purpose of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA) Educational Piece Award is to recognize a recently developed material that educates through accurate, concise information (research based as applies) on one subject.

Kirsten Dubbs, along with her colleagues and award teammates Andrea Kocher and Donna Zang, demonstrated her efforts in development of an educational material by submitting materials she developed to educate 4-H Youth and Volunteers about horsemanship skills, through the Level Two Pennsylvania Horsemanship Skills Video Program. Dubbs says "The 4-H Horsemanship Skills videos are intended to serve as a reference and teaching tool for youth and volunteers engaged in the 4-H Horsemanship Skills Program.  The videos depict horses and youth demonstrating what “mastery” of each individual skill looks like.  Demonstrations are accompanied by narration explaining how to correctly perform each skill.  All demonstrators are current PA 4-H members or recent graduates.  The team members launched the project at the request of the PA 4-H Horse Program Development Committee, the PA 4-H Horse Program Advisory Committee, and volunteers and youth throughout the state.  Team members filmed youth throughout the state, edited the video, wrote the script, created the finished video series, and performed the voice-overs."

Kirsten Dubbs, Andrea Kocher, and Donna Zang were also recognized for their efforts at the state level during the Fall Pennsylvania Association of 4-H Extension Agents Meeting on November 15, 2012 in State College, PA.
