Beekeeping 101, a new online course from Penn State Extension, is open for registration. The course for new and experienced beekeepers uses video, interactive diagrams, and other media to explore all aspects of keeping bees such as bee behavior, equipment, starting a hive, and harvesting honey. The friendly and fun format is ideal as a 4-H project or school activity and backyard beekeeping is a great family activity.

The course segmented into 10 interactive modules can be accessed completely online, and the learner can visit all course content for a full year to refresh learning as needed. Learners can register anytime and begin the course at their convenience.

Beekeeping 101 was created by Extension instructors Maryann Tomasko Frazier and Tom Butzler with design from Penn State Public Broadcasting’s Creative Services. Individual registration is $189. For more information visit extension.psu.edu/beekeeping.
