4-H Senate Fills 75 Shoeboxes for U.S. Military
Posted: January 11, 2011
The Adams County 4-H Senate just completed a community service project to support our men and women in the U.S. military, stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Setting a goal of collecting fifty filled shoeboxes to ship to our service personnel, members and staff contacted friends, challenged our local clubs to fill boxes for our campaign.
On Tuesday November 9th, the 4-H Senate met to fill boxes with the prepackaged snacks and personal items to send to say thank you. Members and families also made homemade cards and art-work to place in the boxes.
The response from our members, clubs and Adams County community was overwhelming. 4-H members filled and packed over 75 shoeboxes and prepared them for shipping. All the boxes will be sent out in time for the holiday season so our service members have a taste of home and receive recognition of appreciation from home.
