4-Her: Tour Guide at Farm City Day
Posted: October 7, 2010
Elementary schools from surrounding areas brought students to have an experience that only a few get to have. From dairy promotion, to draft horses, to alpacas, to plants, the students experienced it all! Agricultural programs came to help the youth get acquainted with the agriculture that they are affected by each day.
Being the PA 4-H State President I had the opportunity to help at this event and work with the youth. The kids loved the ice cream I got to hand out and learning about dairy and cows were great for them too. Along with 4-H the FFA State Officers, Dairy Princesses and Fair Princess from all over the state came to help spread agricultural knowledge and serve as tour guides.
At times people do not always realize how much agriculture affects or has an impact on their lives. Youth today are our leaders of tomorrow and educating them about the reality of agriculture and its importance is crucial. The 2010 Farm City Day was a great success and an amazing opportunity to work with youth and promote the 4-H program!
